Hi, I’m Rob Prince

I was born and raised in mid-Michigan. In 2005 I moved to Alaska to teach documentary filmmaking. In 2014, I started a live storytelling program, podcast, and radio show in Alaska called Dark Winter Nights: True Stories from Alaska. It quickly became clear there was a lot of demand for a program like this. We more than filled the 300 seat theater for our second ever live event, leading us to move to a 1300 seat venue. We sold out that venue in 2023. The New York Times called Dark Winter Nights “the best winter podcast for storytelling lovers” and stories from the show have been aired nationally on National Public Radio.
In the summer of 2023, I moved back to West Michigan to be near family. I continue to help produce Dark Winter Nights and want to use the model I used to create that show to create a sister program here in Michigan–a state I deeply love. It’s clear there are many wonderful true stories from Michigan out there, but they typically only get shared with close family and friends. It’s my goal to take the wonderful stories we tell around the dinner table and put them on stage to share with the rest of the world.
I need your help to do that! I’m looking for people with great true stories from Michigan and people who would like to help make this dream a reality. Please contact us to learn more!
